About This Dog for Adoption

Hugo's ideal home

Hugo is a happy little 9-month-old Cocker Spaniel on the search for an active home. He could join a home with a neutered and fully vaccinated dog, as long as they are able to cope with a boisterous pup who wants to play. Hugo has been in a home with cats previously but again can get quite excitable so any felines in the home must be very confident and bold around dogs. Hugo is still a typical puppy who can get mouthy when overstimulated or excited, he is doing much better with keeping his mind and body busy, but due to this any children should be secondary school aged who are confident around a pup who is still learning. Hugo isn't overly keen on being left at the moment so will need help with having this built up once settled in. He would like to have his own, secure garden to play in and burn off some puppy energy!

Could you be Hugo's perfect match?

Hugo is a very friendly boy with lots of potential! He is a very clever boy who would excel at participating in some sort of dog-activity, such as scent work, agility or flyball. Hugo will need a lot of input to keep him from becoming bored and finding his own entertainment as he has been known to chew on furniture (and your arms!). He is otherwise an adorable, friendly boy who will be a brilliant addition to the right home.

Cocker Spaniel Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Cocker Spaniel.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Cocker Spaniel Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
