About This Dog for Adoption

Sooty's ideal home

Sooty needs a home where any children are aged 14 and over and he can be the only pet. He is house trained and could be left alone for a few hours once he's settled in.

Could you be Sooty's perfect match?

Little Sooty is something of a worrier, but show him a ball and he forgets all his nerves. Once he's built some trust with you he becomes very affectionate, but you may need to be patient. Sooty seems quite timid by nature and forcing him into any new places or situations won't help him. He would benefit from a quiet home without too much people traffic. You'll know when Sooty is comfortable as he'll bring you his beloved blue ball and will suddenly wag his tail, and turn into a real cuddle bug! He doesn't seem to have had much experience with other dogs before his arrival and is rather worried by them. He'll walk nearby any that won't bother him but those that show too much interest will make him bolt to the end of his lead with worry. Gentle socialisation with calm and appropriate dogs will do him good intime, but he shouldn't be forced into something he's not ready for.

Dogs Trust Adoption Process

Thinking of adopting through Dogs Trust? Here's what to expect before you start your application.

  • Register your interest in adoption on the Dogs Trust website - you can't apply for specific dogs directly.
  • Create an account to favourite dogs you're interested in and help the team understand your preferences.
  • Dogs Trust will match you with dogs that fit your lifestyle and home environment.
  • Some dogs listed here may already be rehomed or reserved, as updates can take time to sync.
  • If matched, you'll go through their adoption and home-check process before taking your new dog home.
