About This Dog for Adoption

Ziggy's ideal home

Ziggy is a special little puppy, who is currently in foster care with a lovely family, including children. Ziggy was found as a stray and remained unclaimed before coming into our care. Ziggy requires a calm environment while he grows and develops. Ziggy will need to have controlled exercise & regulated activity as he has angular limb deformity to his front legs (bowed legs) this happens for a number of reasons, the most common being lack of nutrients as a young pup.
Ziggy has had full x-rays and the vets are happy that there are no historical fractures or breaks to his legs.
Some dogs with the correct food and exercise can re-correct over time - this isn't always the case, so anybody applying would need to be conscious of this.

Could you be Ziggy's perfect match?

Ziggy currently needs no medical management, although this may need to be considered as he gets older. Training for Ziggy will be important, as like any young puppy he is active and training and interactive enrichment will be imperative for mental stimulation.
He is great with kids and could live with children in a calm environment, he is to be discouraged from jumping and rough play. He could live with another calm dog, who doesn’t engage in too much play. He walks nicely on the lead, is crate trained and is picking up the toilet training with regular visits and opportunities to toilet in the garden. Ziggy has not been cat tested, being just 5 months old we feel if he is introduced correctly he could live with a cat.

Cocker Spaniel Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Cocker Spaniel.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Cocker Spaniel Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
