About This Dog

Poppy's ideal home

Poppy is a fun-loving one-year-old Spaniel x Terrier cross who is looking for an active family to share her adventures with. This small, black and tan girl is full of personality and absolutely adores spending time with her people. Affectionate and cuddly, Poppy loves belly rubs, curling up close for a fuss, and being involved in family life. Once she's settled, her favourite place to be is right by your side.
Poppy is an energetic young dog who enjoys exploring, sniffing, and making the most of her daily walks. She's especially obsessed with tennis balls and would happily spend her day playing fetch. She also enjoys water, outdoor adventures, and interactive games that keep both her body and mind busy.
She has lived with young children previously and has been described as friendly and affectionate around them. Poppy is sociable with visitors, enjoys meeting new people, and travels well in the car. She's also happy being handled and enjoys a brush and pamper session.
As a bright young dog, Poppy thrives when given plenty of exercise, companionship, and enrichment. Puzzle toys, training games, and regular play sessions will help keep her happy and entertained.

Could you be Poppy's perfect match?

Poppy is looking for a loving home with adopters who can provide an active lifestyle and continue her positive training. She can be excitable at times and would benefit from guidance with her manners, including polite greetings and lead walking skills. She's very food and toy motivated, making her a rewarding dog to train.
Poppy would like to be the only pet in her new home, where she can enjoy all of the attention for herself. She can be vocal around cats, so is looking for a cat-free home. She is mostly house trained, settles well overnight in her crate, and has no known history of aggression.
In return, Poppy promises endless affection, plenty of laughs, and a loyal companion who will happily join you on adventures before snuggling up for cuddles at the end of the day.

This dog is currently being rehomed under our Homestay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Homestay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative suitable dog.
