About This Dog for Adoption

Maris's ideal home

Maris is a 4yr old Spaniel Cross on the look out for a special home. Maris has had a sheltered life and is looking for a patient and understanding home. She has lived with other dogs but hasn't been socialized with those outside her home, and she can be protective of her toys. However, she has the potential to live with another calm and confident dog, given successful meetings and careful management around her resources. Maris could also live with a cat, provided careful introductions are made, as she hasn't lived with cats before. She is shy with new people and takes time to form bonds, so a quiet, adult-only home would be ideal.

Could you be Maris's perfect match?

Coming from a welfare hoarding situation, Maris needs a patient owner to help her explore the world at her own pace. She requires ongoing support with housetraining and will benefit from a garden while adjusting. If living with another dog, Maris could gradually get used to being left alone for short periods. However, if she’s the only dog, a home where someone is around most of the time is best. Maris isn't accustomed to walks yet, so an enclosed garden will be helpful during her transition. With time and patience, Maris can become a wonderful companion.

  • Register your interest in adoption on the Dogs Trust website - you can't apply for specific dogs directly.
  • Create an account to favourite dogs you're interested in and help the team understand your preferences.
  • Dogs Trust will match you with dogs that fit your lifestyle and home environment.
  • Some dogs listed here may already be rehomed or reserved, as updates can take time to sync.
  • If matched, you'll go through their adoption and home-check process before taking your new dog home.
