Description

Scooby's ideal home

Scooby is a handsome two-year-old Saluki cross Cocker Spaniel who entered our care through no fault of his own. He is currently residing in a temporary-foster home and has proven himself to be a well-mannered and entertaining houseguest! Full of beans and fun-loving character, Scooby would be the perfect match to active adopters, who could take him on lots of exciting adventures, followed by sofa snuggles once home. Scooby adores human company and is very excitable when greeting people, but he can’t always contain his enthusiasm and may jump up to say hello. We feel he would best be suited to a home with older primary-school aged children, who are confident around bouncy dogs. Scooby has never lived with a dog before, but we are happy to trial him with a well-suited canine companion of a similar energy level, as well as confident cats, pending a successful introduction process. Scooby is housetrained and there has been no accidents since being in his foster home. However, he does seem to prefer to toilet on walks and he will need to have the opportunity to go throughout the day until he gets used to his new routine. Leaving at home at home is something that will need to be built up very gradually, and only once he is fully settled.

Could you be Scooby's perfect match?

Scooby is an outdoorsy dog, seeking an active family who share his passion for countryside walks and beach trips. He can be a strong chap at times, especially when he catches scent of something exciting, so his adopters will need to be confident in managing him out and about. Playful in his nature, he absolutely LOVES his toys, so would love a big toy box to choose from, including lower-value toys that his adopters are happy for him to shred… as part of the fun is pulling them apart! He’s a clever boy and already knows some basic commands such as ‘sit’, ‘down’ and ‘paw’, but we’re sure he’d be capable of learning lots more! If you’re looking for a fun dog who you could include in your day to day activities, Scooby may just be the pooch for you!

Cocker Spaniel Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Cocker Spaniel.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 6 months, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
